My Expertise
Tamar Balkin:
My 20+ year career as an Organisational Psychologist has been driven by a belief that that work and life should be an enjoyable, challenging and energising experience. Early in my career this involved corporate consulting and for the last 18 years my focus has been predominantly enhancing leadership capability and wellbeing through executive coaching. In my experience the behaviour and attitudes of the CEO and senior executive teams sets the tone for the entire organisation.
I believe I have a unique capacity to establish strong relationships with my clients and thus enabling them to leverage off their strengths maintain focus and motivation when facing great opportunities or difficult challenges. Typically, I provide executive coaching to leaders, in the context of organisational change who would like to improve their self-awareness, thereby their leadership capability to quote an often used phrase they want to go from “go from good to great”. Increasingly I am noticing the focus of coaching is to enable sustained high performance from the senior executive team and creation of a more responsible, progressive & supportive leadership culture.
I have provided coaching to newly appointed leaders to ensure at they have a successful transition as they progress in their careers. often my clients are referred by their bosses and are highly capable yet require specific development in some of the following areas: wellbeing, strategic decision-making; motivation, influencing others; emotional intelligence; expanding one’s perspective when dealing with customer, stakeholder and organisational issues to include multiple viewpoints (e.g. broader commercial, political and economic environment). In all cases there is the need to identify sources of on-going feedback and continuous learning to support long-term changes in behaviour. Increasingly my referrals are from conflict situations, where the aim is to minimise incivility by increasing effective interpersonal and leadership behaviour.
As an Endorsed Organisational Psychologist I have a commitment to a high standard of professional ethics and a legal requirement for peer supervision and 30 hours of annual professional development. Thus ensuring that the achievement of my clients goals are based on the latest research into human behaviour in the workplace.
