"Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' comes
Watching the ships roll in
Then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away, ooh
I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time"
(Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding (Click here for the song)
Many readers, colleagues and clients have told me they are are feeling rather exhausted and others are going on leave this Friday. Therefore, I have decided this would be my last blog for the year with one simple message:
Over the summer months regularly stop, pause and enjoy your leisure time.
For those who have forgotten how to just stop, and be still here are some ideas:
Sitting: in the sun or on the couch
Strolling: in nature or up the street
Lying: on the grass or the sand
Listening: to birdsong or music (click here for my classical music playlist)
Watching the tide, or the sunset
If this list looks painfully still or annoyingly vague, then try to reconnect with your hobbies and leisure activities. Those who need some structure may find it useful to click here for the leisure values checklist on my website, or here to read my leisure blog.
Remember it is the spirit not the activity that makes it leisure or relaxing.
Thank you all for your loyalty and support in 2020, wishing you and your families Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year.
Whilst this is my final blog for 2020 I shall be working until the 30th December.
